Applicaton Focus - Leadership Development ( Competency Modeling, Curriculum Design, Customized Leadership Development Programs, Individual Development Planning).
Presenting Business Need - Business Unit's profits were declining in the face of increasing turnover and loss of market share to aggressive competitors. The President of this line of business realized that he needed to rapidly refocus and strengthen the leadership capabilities of 60 individuals across the entire business unit.
Solution - The focus of the first initiative was to strengthen the most important behavioral leadership skills to ensure better and more consistent leadership performance - to improve profitability and morale and reduce turnover. Primary deliverables were as follows:
- Identified the leadership competencies needed to address the current and future needs of the business.
- Constructed curricula for each of the top four levels of leadership.
- Developed four customized leadership development programs to address the current leadership capability gaps.
- Used the pre and post self-assessments in each program to gauge individual growth as well as identify further developmental needs.
- Worked with each leader and his/her manager to create individual development plans.
Impact - Within six months of all 60 leaders completing the leadership development programs, as well as implementing their own individual development programs, the turnover had decreased by 70%, profits had turned the corner and were increasing, and a follow-up employee survey revealed significant improvements in all areas measured.
