John Wheaton

Experience/Background:

John Wheaton is a consultant with the Alliance for Strategic Leadership, A4SL, an organization of independent consultants who provide executive coaching and leadership development services. John focuses on helping successful people and organizations get even better.

John uses the leadership coaching method pioneered by Marshall Goldsmith to improve the behavior of organizational leaders and teams. This method combines feedback, coaching, follow-up, and mini-surveys to help people achieve positive, long-term, measurable change in behaviors identified by them and their co-workers. In addition to leadership development, John has special interests in motivation, creativity and innovation, and organizational systems. He is a friendly and relaxed facilitator and coach for individual, group, and organizational change.

John started 22 years ago with Mobil Oil Corporation's Torrance Refinery as a mechanical engineer. His career included responsibility for multimillion-dollar projects, supervising engineers, and detailed, direct involvement with all business functions. John's last five years with Mobil were spent on several successful, large-scale organizational change projects. For the past four years, John has worked closely with Marshall Goldsmith and others within A4SL to keep the organization at the forefront of executive coaching and leadership development practice.
